Setup guides

Setup guides.

The rest of this site says what SpanVoice does. These pages say how to wire it into the room you already have: which socket on the desk, which cable, which setting, and what a good result looks like. Written by people who run live sound every week.

Two people preparing a hall before an event, cables run to a laptop at the sound desk.

Questions

Before you start

Not sure which guide is yours? Describe the room and we will point you at the right one.

Talk to us

Do I need a sound technician to follow these?

No. Each guide starts from the socket on the equipment you already have and names every setting. If the room has a technician, hand them the page; the first step is written for them.

Is the equipment in the diagrams the only kind that works?

The diagrams show the usual parts: a desk, a small USB audio interface, a Windows computer, phones. Where a different piece of gear does the same job the guide says so.

Do the guides assume the Windows desk app?

The ones about a sound desk do, because that is where a desk feed goes. A room with no desk streams from a browser on any computer, tablet or phone, and the guides for those rooms say so.

Something in a guide does not match my room.

Tell us what you have. The guides grow from the rooms people write in about, and a photo of the back of your desk is usually enough to answer the question.

Try it in your room.

Follow one guide, start a session, and read the words on your own phone.
