What you are charged for

Every figure on this page is for one event, not a month and not a subscription. Captions go to the projector, to the caption bar over your stream, and to every phone in the room at the same time — that is one price, not three. Spoken translation is separate and optional.

What is charged

  • The clock runs from when the operator presses start to when they press stop.
  • You pay for what you used. A seventy-minute event is seventy minutes. No minimum, no rounding up to the hour, no block bookings.
  • Captions are charged per hour for each language running. Two languages for one hour is two hours.
  • A language only runs when somebody has chosen it. If nobody picks Mandarin you are not charged for Mandarin, whatever your settings list.
  • The language being spoken in the room is not charged as a translation.
  • Spoken audio is separate and optional. It is charged by the minute of audio produced.
  • Nothing is charged per person, per device, per venue or per month. No setup fee and no licence. Tax is added at checkout where we have to collect it.

What that looks like in practice

  • A two-hour service, captions in two languages. Two hours, two languages — €2.40. Nobody downloads anything, and the people reading cost nothing.
  • A full day of conference sessions in four languages. Eight hours, four languages — €19.20. Add spoken audio in one language for the two hours of keynotes and that is €2.64 more.
  • A ninety-minute public meeting, captions over the stream. Two languages — €1.80, covering the people in the room and the people watching online.
  • Work any of these out for your own event with the calculator.

Questions people ask about the bill

Is there really no monthly fee?

No. Nothing recurring, nothing per person, and no minimum spend. If you run no events in a month, you pay nothing that month.

Do I pay for languages nobody uses?

No. A language is only charged while somebody is actually using it. You can list twenty languages for your audience to choose from and be charged only for the three they picked.

Is spoken audio included?

No. Captions are the service; spoken audio is optional, off until you turn it on, and charged separately by the minute of audio produced. You can also turn it on for one language and not others.

What happens if my balance runs out during an event?

A running event is never cut off: credit is checked when an event starts, not during it. What needs credit is the next start. Automatic top-up covers that when it is switched on, the card on the account is valid and the payment goes through; if a top-up fails we tell you, and the next event waits until there is credit.

What if we stop and start a few times during the day?

You are charged for the time the session is actually running, so stopping between items costs you nothing.

Do you charge per person in the audience?

No. Fifty people or five hundred, the price is the same. There is nothing for them to install and no account for them to make.

What happens to credit I have not used?

It stays on your account and never expires. Use it next week or next year; there is no monthly allowance that resets and nothing is lost by running fewer events. If you close your account, unused credit is not refunded unless the law requires it, so run it down or export what you need first.

How often do prices change?

At most once a month, and never retroactively — usage is always charged at the rate in force on the day it happened. If a change raises what you pay it takes effect from the first of a month and we tell you beforehand.

Point it at a microphone, put the link on the screen, and watch the room read along. Nothing to install, no credit card, and you can stop any time.
